Africa Finance Corporation launches new Capital Mobilization and Partnerships (CMP) Department
Africa Finance Corporation has announced the launch of a Capital Mobilization and Partnerships (CMP) Department under the Financial Services (FS) Division. The department will serve as the consolidated platform for all Equity Capital Mobilization, Partnerships, Alliances, and Country Membership Engagements for the Corporation. This will enable AFC to position itself firmly as the preferred partner for Africa’s infrastructure and industrial development, providing pragmatic solutions to unlock the continent’s potential and drive prosperity and development on the continent.
The CMP team will be dedicated to enhancing and embedding our pioneering approach to attracting capital from African and non-African investors, aligned with our strategic vision to forge deep and meaningful partnerships with our member countries, key sovereigns outside the African continent and global stakeholders.
In line with this, we are pleased to announce that effective immediately, Mohammed Abdul-Razaq, currently SVP in the Financial Advisory Department, will lead the new Capital Mobilization and Partnerships Department. Mohammed joined AFC in April 2016 in the Financial Advisory department. Working closely with the Head of the Financial Advisory Department and other team members, Mohammed played an instrumental role in the growth, success, and strategic importance of the Financial Advisory Team as an origination engine for the Corporation over the last 8 years.
Prior to joining the Corporation, Mohammed began his career at Morgan Stanley where he spent 5 years working in the Emerging Market Investment Banking team focussing on M&A, equity and debt capital raises, corporate restructurings and strategic financial advisory for private and public clients in emerging markets. Following his experience at Morgan Stanley, Mohammed spent 4 years in Renaissance Capital, where he continued to advise clients and execute M&A and capital raise transactions predominantly in Sub-Saharan Africa.
We wish Mohammed all the best in his new role within AFC.
