Samaila Zubairu is AFC's President and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to his appointment, Mr.Zubairu was the CEO of Africapital Management Limited, in which capacity he established a joint venture with Old Mutual’s African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM) to develop the Nigerian Infrastructure Investment Fund1(NIIF1) for infrastructure private equity across West Africa.

As Chief Financial Officer for Dangote Cement Plc, he launched Africa’s largest syndicated project finance facility for the Obajana Cement project, and, managed the unbundling of Dangote Industries Limited to listed subsidiaries on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Prior to that, he was the Treasurer for the Dangote Group during its transformation from a trading company to an industrial conglomerate. He has undertaken investments of over US$3 billion, financing green-field project finance, acquisitions, corporate transformation, privatization and equity capital market transactions.

Samaila is an Eisenhower Fellow and sits on the Eisenhower Fellowship’s Global Network Council and the President’s Advisory Council. He holds several non-executive board positions including the Advisory board member for KSE Africa a leading operations and management provider of captive power plants in the mining sectors in Botswana and Nigeria. Zubairu is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Nigeria (FCA)and holds a BSc in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria.

OLIVER-ANDREWS-150x150.jpgOliver Andrews, Executive Director & Chief Investment Officer

Oliver is the Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer the Africa Finance Corporation. His oversight functions include end to end origination, execution of transactions and portfolio management for AFC.

An entrepreneurial engineer with extensive background in engineering, transport and principal investments, Oliver has over 35 years experience in the infrastructure sector, covering; strategic advisory - advising governments, international corporations, regional economic institutions and DFIs, project development and principal investing. He has successfully directed, developed and invested in numerous infrastructure deals in Africa, with a total value of c. US$40 billion.

He was the Project Director for the award winning - 2014 Thompson Reuters Project Finance Africa Power Deal of the year - Cenpower Kpone IPP, leading a multidisciplinary project team in a US$ 900 million landmark project in Ghana.

Oliver is the former CEO of TCI Infrastructure Limited (TCII) and the Gambia Ports Authority. He holds an MBA from the University of Wales. He is an Electrical and Electronic Engineer, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, UK; the Royal Society of Arts, UK, and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. He is also a non-executive director of several companies and is the first Chairman of Africa Infrastructure Development Association (AfIDA).

SANJEEV.jpgSanjeev Gupta, Executive Director, Financial Services

Sanjeev Gupta is AFC’s Executive Director for Financial Services. He is responsible for Treasury, Trade finance & Syndication and Corporate Advisory lines of business within AFC. Mr. Gupta has over 25 years' experience in Investment Management, Private Equity and Corporate Advisory Services. Sanjeev's forte has been to blend together global and indigenous corporates, financial investors, and governments to develop commercially viable business and development models that leave a sustainable impact on emerging market economies.

Prior to joining AFC, Mr. Gupta was the Managing Partner of Emerging Markets Mergers and Acquisitions Center of Excellence at Ernst and Young. He was also the Chief Executive Officer of Sanlam Investment Management Emerging Markets operations and a Founder and Managing Partner of Emerging Opportunity Consulting, a boutique advisory firm specialising in SME financing. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Calcutta, India and is an alumnus of the Said Business School, University of Oxford, England. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, India (FCA).

AYOTUNDE-I.png Ayotunde Anjorin, Director & Chief Financial Officer

Ayotunde Anjorin is a Director and the Chief Financial Officer of the Corporation. Prior to this, he was AFC's Senior Vice President and Head of Finance & Operations with strategic leadership responsibilities for all finance-related activities comprising banking operations, financial reporting and control, product control and settlement. Mr. Anjorin joined the Corporation as the Vice President and Financial Controller. Prior to AFC, He worked at Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria, where he held many positions within the Finance group and Internal Audit at national and regional levels. He was the regional Head of Wholesale Banking Finance at Standard Chartered Bank responsible for managing wholesale banking finance activities across West Africa. He has also worked as a consultant for KPMG.

Mr. Anjorin holds a BSc in Accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Ayotunde is a chartered accountant with more than 15 years post qualification experience encompassing financial accounting, reporting and control, management accounting, financial risk management, process re-engineering and reviews. He has also attended Executive Management programmes at Harvard Business School, USA, IMD Business School, Switzerland and Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA.

DAVID-JOHNSON.jpgDavid Johnson, Director & Chief Risk Officer

David Johnson is the Corporation's Director and Chief Risk Officer. Until his appointment, Mr. Johnson was the Senior Vice President, Market Risk Management. Prior to joining AFC, he spent fifteen years working as a Risk Manager, Trader and Structurer at various international banks including Stanbic IBTC Bank, where he was Regional Head of Market Risk for West Africa, and Risk Manager for the Credit Derivatives Group at WestLB AG (Westdeutsche Landesbank, London) and the Asset Backed Commercial Paper (ABCP) conduit at Abbey National Treasury Services.

He holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, MSc in Computing, MSc in Mathematical Trading and Finance from the City University, London, UK.

Anthony-Arabome1.jpgAnthony Arabome, Director, Corporate Services

Mr. Anthony Arabome is currently Director, Corporate Services Division with oversight responsibility for Human Resources, Administration, Information Technology and Procurement functions whilst doubling as the Corporation’s Human Resources Director. He has 35 years’ experience, at both technical and management levels, in Human Resource Management and General Management, across the Oil & Gas and Financial Services sectors, having worked for leading global institutions throughout his career. Prior to joining the Corporation in 2009, he was HR Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration & Production Company (SNEPCo) and concurrently, the Regional Talent Manager for Shell Africa. He was also on the Board of SNEPCo.
Mr. Arabome is a distinguished Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria and one of the Institute’s Past Presidents. He is also an esteemed member of the international Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM). He is an alumnus of several Executive Education programmes in HRM, Leadership, Strategy, Execution and Business Management with the University of Michigan USA, IMD Switzerland, Cornell University USA, INSEAD USA and London Business School, UK. He holds an honours BSc degree in Economics from the University of Ife, Nigeria and an MSc degree in Human Resource Management from the University of London, UK.

nanaeshun.jpgMs Nana Eshun – Director & General Counsel

Nana Eshun is a Director and the General Counsel of the Corporation, with oversight responsibility for Corporate governance, corporate secretariat, legal administration and support.  She has over 30 years' experience in the legal profession with specialist expertise in infrastructure financing across Africa and Internationally.
Nana’s experience includes providing advice and support for AFC as an equity investor to a US$1 billion greenfield power plant financing; representing AFC as a project developer/financier of IPPs in Cape Verde, Ghana, Nigeria and Rwanda; input into upstream and midstream oil and gas transactions; and various other corporate, financing and other transactions covering :- project finance, private finance initiative (PFI), policy development, public private partnerships, debt and equity investment, fund raising and borrowings in key infrastructure sectors of natural resources, power, transport, heavy industry, information technology, telecommunications, property and  investment funds.
Prior to joining AFC in 2008, Nana was Consultant Legal Counsel at the African Development Bank (AfDB) where she led on the legal aspects of financing of projects covering infrastructure and economic development.  Previously, she represented the Government of Ghana (Ministry of Finance) as lead finance lawyer on the West African Gas Pipeline project.
Nana is dual qualified as a Barrister-at-Law, Ghana (1987) and Solicitor, England & Wales (1994).  She obtained her post qualification experience with City of London (UK) commercial law firms including Denton Wilde Sapte and Eversheds Solicitors.  Nana Eshun holds a BA (Law & Sociology) from the University of Ghana, BL (Barristers Law Practicing Certificate), Ghana School of Law, Law Society Finals, College of Law, Guildford (UK) and a Master of Laws LLM (International Business Law) from the University of London.
